Dreamscape

There's not going to be much of a description for this but this is an image I painted a couple of weeks back and thought I should share. It represents innocence, loss and remembrance.

Sisters of the Forest: Where inspiration comes from

Inspiration is a funny thing, it can come at almost any moment; at work, school, in the middle of the night:
I always keep a pad and pen next to my bed in case of a inspiration related emergency
But in this case it came from a different form of art. In my spare time I like to let my creative juices flow by either making costumes or inventing new ones. I was thinking of a new costume to make that would be possible to swim in like a Nymph or maybe a Mermaid. When I got a general idea in my head, I started to wonder, so what's her story? I realized that this character would be a great study for a series of character concept designs describing the different aspects of their lives and personalities. As you know, I began with one, which was the Nymph, and this grew into a series of creatures that I called the Sisters of the Forest. Much like the Nymph, I wanted each one to be a part of the natural world and represent a different area.

So below are the finished concepts. I went with a Hunter; the quiet, strong Nymph, a Scavenger; a lighthearted, adventurous Sprite, and a Destroyer; a silent, lethal Goblin.

Woodland Pond: I like trees

While growing up I was brought up on a lot of fairy tales and fantasy that sparked my imagination. I read a lot of books as a kid concerning unicorns and dragons, adventures and mystery; and I wanted to paint something that reminded me of those stories. So, this is what I came up with in the end, my fantasy wood scene.

Normally I use a few layers to make sure I can rearrange characters, for example, without having to repaint the whole area but for this I ended up painting it all on one layer. I have no idea why...I must have been caught in the moment!

Hello All!

I thought it would finally be time to get a blog up and running to show the kinds of things I get up to. For those of you who don't know, I am a freelance artist/animator and absolutely love to create things in all shapes and sizes! I delve into Concept Art, Illustration, 3D Animation and Motion Graphics which seems like a bit of a mixed bag but most of them run into one another now and then so it's good to have a place to show some of my processes, final images and general goings on in the big wide world.

Hope you enjoy!
